The long awaited reveal of the next Linden Home theme has finally arrived, at the Christmas Expo!
Those of you who are regulars of the Linden Home forum will probably know there's been a lot of interest about what the next Linden home theme will be. So far we've had traditional houses, houseboats and campers, which I've blogged about recently. We've been teased with developments on the SSP map, Patch Linden's photos, and the knowledge that all would be revealed at this year's Christmas Expo which is held in partnership with the American Cancer Society.
Well reveal time has arrived! A region at the Expo has been dedicated to the new theme reveal which is....Victorian!
My first impression of the environment is that it is really beautifully done. It has a 'chocolate box' feel to it, but in a good way! The landscaping has lots of green grass, colourful flowers, trees and water. Really pretty.
As. with all the reveals to date it's an example of what to expect, so there may be small variations in the actual release. But I really like what I have seen here.
There are four house styles of house to choose from:
- The Shelley
- The Doyle
- The Hardy
- Verne
As you can see from the photos the front areas are beautifully decorated. The rear of the homes are less so, but that's so that they can be customised by the residents. The homes have a porch too.
I find the styles are very similar to the current traditional homes you can see on the Bellisseria continent, but I think they feel more spacious inside, probably due to fewer doors and an more open plan style, together with slightly bigger windows. They feel less cramped to me than the Traditionals, which is great, so definitely an improvement in that respect.
The overall difference between the traditional theme and the Victorian isn't as marked as I would have like to seen , as is the difference to the campers and houseboats for example, but that's just personal preference. The Traditional theme has been immensely popular, and I think this one will probably be even more so!
Patch Linden hinted that the homes may have some great features, but we're not being told what exactly yet. It does appear that you can colour walls in different rooms separately (which is something people were expressing a desire for), so that might be part of it. Other than that, I guess we'll have to wait until they are finally released. When that'll be is anyone's guess at the moment. I think a lot of folks are hoping this month, but I'm thinking more likely January. But who knows! Maybe it'll be a nice Christmas surprise.
